Bridge at Mostar

Bridge at Mostar

Each ……… a tearing teardrop in Mostar
Every stone bewildered frozen watched
One commander praljak
Melancholy Mostar cry over the arch
History erode history buried alive
Stone bleed time at the bridge of Mostar
Nightmare realm of genocide
Yet to be cleansed from guilt eternal
This war of shame dastardly magnified
The bridge of glory Mostar past
In November nine silently fell loud
1993 in the calender of hate is a mist of dust
across the empires
Be it Roman Ottoman Austrian
Sum total centuries of despair
“Stari most” was 427 young with a gleam in the eyes
The bridge separated as united as much
Banks of neretva apart pull closer
Islam Orthodox Catholic from within
Memories lapse boundaries dug
In neretva love dried to its last drop
Stone was glory at “stari most”
Symbol of eternal everafter
Against the confusion of time
Travelled intact through ages proud
The drum of a common and noble past pound
Master builders of mostar awake with the guns
Falling chunks of a nightmare live
Centuries at a loss testify in agony wild
This for victims silent of Mostar a bitter prize
Stari most falls only to revive
Only to ressurect in time
Cannons of revenge pound non stop
Order one commander praljak
The symbol of glory of time is now ravage
Once coexistence now wounded dispaired feel
Only to revive from the dead reflect
Immortality that span across the arch
